Sector: Manufacture of textiles and textile articles, except apparel (C13)

The sector for the manufacture of textiles and textile articles, except apparel amounted to nearly 2.0% of industrial production in the country and contributes about 1.5% of value added in industry.

The level of wages in the sector is one of the lowest. The average monthly wage is estimated at about 460 BGN and provides employment of 12.8 thousand people (2.6% of employees in manufacturing industry).

The index of industrial production deteriorated by 3.7 points, while the turnover in the sector in 2010 improved by 2.7 points. In the sector has been an increase in producer prices (5.4 percentage points from 2009).

The production process consists of preparation and spinning of textile fibers, fabrics, yarns, made-up textile articles (except apparel) and others, implemented by about 700 companies, mainly located in the territory of Southern Bulgaria. As more important can be distinguished Yana, Miroglio, K Bulgaria, Kalinel, Riton P, Bulsafil, Rodopi M, Maritsateks, Velbuzhd, Embul Investment, Katex and others.

The revival of production in the sector affected the dynamics of exports, which in 2010 grew by 6.3%. Sector participation in foreign trade is 2.5% of total exports and 5.6% of total imports of the country.

Staff providing in the sector is a result from the operation of 54 vocational schools.
