Sector: Manufacture of paper and paperboard and articles of paper and paperboard (C17)
 

The sector for manufacture of paper and paper products and cardboard covers about 1.4% of industrial production in the country and also creates about 1.4% of value added in industry.

The level of wages in the sector is one of the lowest. The average monthly wage is estimated at about 460 BGN and employs 9.6 thousand people (1.9% of employees in manufacturing industry).

The index of industrial production and the turnover of this sector in 2010 was improved by 47.8 and 45.9 points. In the sector has been an increase in producer prices (9 percentage points compared to 2009).

The production consists of articles of paper and cardboard, wallpaper, stationery and more. It is performed by about 350 companies as more than half are located in South Central and South Western regions. Among the companies engaged in the manufacture of paper, paperboard and articles can be distinguished MondiPeking Stamboliyski, Svilosel, Kostenets HHI, Koch and Nur Nemusmark, Vitavel, etc.

The revival of production in the sector affected the dynamics of exports, which in 2010 grew by 123.8%. Sector participation in foreign trade is 1% of total exports and 2.6% of total imports of the country.

Staff providing in the sector is a result from the operation of eight universities and two schools.
