Sector: Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (C20)
 

The sector of manufacture of chemicals and chemical products covers about 3.5% of industrial production in the country and create more than 2.0% of value added in industry.

The level of wages in the sector is average. The average monthly wage is estimated at about 670 BGN and provides employment of 13.9 thousand people (2.8% of employees in manufacturing industry).

The index of industrial production and turnover of this sector in 2010 was improved by 17 and 18.8 points. In the sector has been an increase in producer prices (5 percentage points compared to 2009).

The production consists of industrial gases, dyes, pigments, nitrogen fertilizers, polymers, pesticides, paints, detergents and others. It is performed by about 640 companies as more than half are located in South Central and South Western region. Among the companies engaged in manufacturing chemical products can be distinguished Neochim, Sviloza ZIK, Agropolychim, Aroma, Bulgarian Rose Sevtopolis, etc.

The revival of production in the sector affected the dynamics of exports, which in 2010 grew by 32%. The participation of this sector in the foreign trade is 5.6% of total exports and 9.9% of total imports of the country.

Staff providing in the sector is a result from the operation of six universities and twenty one vocational schools.
