Internal Market Information System - IMI

Internal Market Information System is an electronic tool, developed and maintained by the European Commission, intended for the exchange of information between the administrations of EU Member States in relation with the European legislation in the following areas:

  • mutual recognition of professional qualifications in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC of professional qualifications;
  • activities for services provision in accordance with the Directive 2006/123/ЕC on services in the internal market;
  • information exchange for the purposes of the Posting of Workers Directive (96/71/EC).

IMI is accessible in all official EU languages and ensure faster, better structured and more reliable exchange of information between competent authorities of all EU Member States.

More than 5000 authorities from across Europe have already been registered in the IMI. More than 4000 authorities use the system for exchancing information relating to services, and 870 bodies in relation to the recognition of professional qualifications.

Bulgaria is currently registered in IMI: National Coordinator for the System - Ministry of transport, informational technologies and communications, Delegated Coordinator for Services - Ministry of economy, energy and tourism, Delegated Coordinator for Professional qualifications - Ministry of education, youth and science and Delegated Coordinator for posting of workers - General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency.
